What is Powertex?
Powertex fabric hardener and textile hardener is an environmentally friendly water-based liquid sculpting medium. Powertex can replace polyester for fabric hardening and textile hardening. Powertex can harden absorbent materials such as textiles, paper, cardboard, fabrics, leather and fiberglass. Powertex can be easily combined with self-hardening clays, concrete, stone, ceramic, wood, sand and Stone Art. Powertex is used for making sculptures, paintings, decorative objects and jewelry.
How long does it take for Powertex fabric sculptures to become weatherproof?
It will take three weeks before we would recommend you put them outside. If you have used transparent hardener we recommend you varnish your work after three weeks. If your sculpture is made from one of our clays you should keep it inside for 6 months before it will be weatherproof.
How can I clean my brushes?
Simply wash in water.
Will Powertex wash off my skin?
Yes, use warm soapy water.
Will Powertex wash out of my clothes?
If you are very quick you may be lucky and get Powertex out of your clothes, we recommend you wear old clothes to avoid this being a problem.
Is Powertex harmful?
Powertex is non toxic, environmentally friendly and water based. Powertex has passed rigourous testing by REACH and has an API accreditation. Powertex could be harmful if ingested. Please ask for MSDS for full information.
Can I use Powertex on any material?
Powertex works on natural materials best but feel free to experiment. Powertex does not stick to plastic.
Can I dilute Powertex to make it go further?
Powertex will not be as effective for hardening materials if diluted but would be fine for painting and mixed media work.
